Common Questions and Answers
Why don’t some schools teach everything?
Well, there’s no single national standard for Sex Ed in the United States. That means what your son is learning depends on where he lives. Some schools teach more. Some teach less. And others teach a lot, LOT less.
It all stems from two competing mindsets. The people who want more say it’s statistically proven to work. The people who want less say it encourages the very behaviors, that in some cases, are about to happen anyway.
So, it’s a very personal thing. The schools are caught in the middle. And they’re doing a really good job with a tricky situation. We’d really encourage you to Google this stuff, because we actually do have a “Sex Ed Lottery:”
- “Boston University School of Public Health: Sex Ed Medical Accuracy Standards”
- “Newsweek: State-by-State Sex Education Mandates”
- “Sex Ed for Social Change State Profiles”
Why Comedy?
Parents, for generations, put a book on their son’s nightstand. But a lot of kids won’t read it. They throw it into a river. And when it’s all said and done, we’re back where we started.
So, that’s where the comedy comes in. It lowers their guard. Meets them where they are. And makes a pretty awkward thing just a little more approachable. We’re covering the broccoli in cheese.
Does My Son Want This?
No, absolutely not. Your son does not want a mandatory course of any kind on a Saturday. Your son wants to zipline with his friends. But here’s where it gets… interesting.
In our beta group, kids were asked to choose between this, “the books,” or a traditional approach at school. And out of those three options, they consistently picked this.
So, will he like it as much as scrolling? Or standup? Or ripping through a lake on a jet ski? No, that’s not a realistic goal for educational content.
But if he had to choose between this, “the books,” or learning it all the hard way, we’re willing to bet on this.
How Long Does It Take to Complete?
The course contains 12 lessons. And each lesson can be completed in about 10 - 20 minutes.
But every kid is different. Use what you want. Skip what you don’t. Discuss for as long as you’d like.
How Long Do We Have Access?
Customers will have access for 90 days. But this will NOT take 90 days to complete… not even close. The 90-day window is to allow for different learning styles, busy schedules, and retaking the course, if desired, to bolster comprehension.
Why Is It Just for Boys?
This course was written by a guy, so it made sense to start there. But if people want a course for girls, let us know. And we’ll collaborate with a woman who can help us get it right.
Why Is It Text-Based?
Video can “seem nice,” for some. But when it’s done right, it’s actually really expensive. It forces a fixed pace. And honestly…
…it’s easy to sit back, zone out, and let the video play in the background. But with a text-based model, you get a few major wins:
- Text invites a more active form of learning
- It allows kids to go at their own pace
- It gives you the same trusted guidance at a much lower price
That’s why Comedy Sex Ed encourages kids to read. You know, like our ancestors used to do.
What If My Son Won’t Take This?
That’s between you two, hahaha. We can’t “make” a kid do anything. But maybe you can.
Parents have been making their kids do stuff since the beginning of time. Do the dishes. Do your homework. Take this course so you don’t ruin your life.
But hey — you know your son. And if you can’t make him do stuff, you already know that.
What If He Says He Already Knows This?
Well, he might be right. But nationally, some schools get a lot of pushback when they try to include the new stuff, like porn, sexting, the updated version of consent…
So, maybe he knows some of it. Maybe he doesn’t feel like doing this. Or maybe it seemed like common sense AFTER he read it.
But if you’re on the fence, ask yourself this. What’s the bigger risk? Reviewing, discussing, and locking it all in? Or leaving several major gaps?
Refunds – Refund Policy & How To Apply
The refund window is so you can review this course and approve what you’re showing him. So, review the course. And if you decide NOT to show it to your son — like any part of it — you can request a full refund within 3 days of purchase.
Now, we can’t refund your money if your son doesn’t like it, won’t take it, or doesn’t think it’s funny. He’s 12 – and as we’ve explained – would rather be on a jet ski. But if you didn’t show him the course – or any part of it – even 1%…
